The board meets about once a month during non-summer months.  Any CCGB member who wishes to do so may attend a meeting, as long as the president is notified of such a wish ahead of time.  With permission ahead of time, the visitor may address the board on a specified topic.  The board invites such participation by members.

Leonard Bernstein, D.M.D., M.P.H., is a retired orthodontist and former Clinical Professor of Orthodontics at Boston University School of Dental Medicine. After retiring he obtained an MPH and has worked as a consultant in various health-related fields through his company, Healthpro Consultants. Experience with close relatives and friends in end of life problem situations led him to Compassion and Choices.

Garrick F. Cole, Esq., an attorney with Smith & Duggan in Boston, is expert on the legal aspects of end-of-life issues. He has had a longstanding interest in the legal aspects of end-of-life problems and was a co-author of a model end-of-life statute developed a few years ago in collaboration with other advocates in the greater Boston area.

David Dawson, M.D., is a senior neurologist at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, where he has been the director of the multiple sclerosis clinic. He has had long experience with patients who suffer from chronic, debilitating disease.

Thomas M. Ferrick is the retired Humanist chaplain at Harvard University and current executive director of the Humanist Association of Massachusetts. He has long championed our principles and goals.

James C. Gross, Esq., is an actively practicing Boston attorney who will provide needed expertise from his legal experience. Relatively new to the board, he has taken the lead in revising our advance directive booklet (underway) and organizing neighborhood meetings.

Steven Herson, M.D., cardiologist practicing at Emerson Hospital in Concord, Mass.

Edward Lowenstein, M.D., formerly Chief of Anesthesiology at Beth Israel Hopsital in Boston, is currently on the faculty of Harvard Medical School, where he is a Professor in the Division of Medical Ethics.

Holly Zalinger, LICSW, has many years of experience as a social worker and is a trained counselor who has specialized in counseling on end-of-life problems. As vice-president of the chapter, she is intimately involved in helping run the affairs of the chapter.

Nancy S. Dorfman, President Emeritus and Board Member Emeritus, Ph.D., received a doctorate in economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and retired after a career in environmental and public policy economics within government, academia and the private sector. She founded our chapter in 1988 and has been a longstanding activist in our field.

N.C. Webb, Board Member Emeritus, M.D., is a graduate of Harvard Medical School who trained in internal medicine and has recently been involved in pharmaceutical evaluation. He has speaken frequently on right-to-die issues on radio and television.
